A bottle of glögg was warmed, the ornaments were unpacked and laid on the table, a few of my first homemade pepparkakor were strung with ribbon, the lights were unpacked, and the decorating of our first Christmas tree commenced.

The lights presented a bit of a problem. It was hard to get them even and nearly impossible to hide the wires in these Swedish trees that bare their trunks so boldly--we actually had to remove them all and start over at one point. The garland kind of confused us, but when everything was hung and the julbock placed underneath, we were content, a little tired of our three Christmas records, and pleasantly sticky from so much glögg and pepparkakor.





All that's left to do is wrap the presents, buy a load of brussles sprouts to recreate the ones we had for Thanksgiving, and soak some white beans. Tomorrow begins a week of family festivities and low internet activity, which will end by ringing in 2006 with my parents.
