Calling all amateur designers!
Operation Decorate the Apartment is moving along at a steady pace. Two weeks ago we painted the kitchen a lovely shade of green called "Purjo." Last week we won an auction for a dining table, and yesterday I started recovering the fabric on the chairs that came with it. An hour ago we sold our klippan sofa for less than half what we paid for it, but were happy to have sold it at all. Tomorrow, Erik is putting bookshelves up in the living room.
But listen, friends, we need some advice. While things are happening in the living room and kitchen, Erik and I are totally stumped on the bedroom (eh hem, meaning how to furnish it). Forget the fact that I hate everything we have in there (including a ginormous wardrobe we're currently trying to sell--any takers?), I can't even picture how I would want the room to look were I to dress it in my dream furniture.
Think of our bedroom as an entirely too thin girl. Think of it as Nicole Ritchie, if you will, only much taller. No matter what you put on her, you can't hide that tiny waist. Our bedroom is simply too skinny for easy style solutions.
Now think of yourself as Nate Berkus, as Thom Felicia, as Isabelle Halling, except much better than them, without the kooky touches, and with ideas that will keep working after the cameras leave. Your task is to furnish this awkward room:
NOTE: Drawing is not drawn to scale. The actual room is about 5 meters long x 3 meters wide (16' x 10').
What would you have in there besides a bed? Where would the bed go? Please, share your ideas and advice!
Things to consider:
*Our bedroom is much poorer than Nicole Ritchie.
*We need to keep at least some clothes in the bedroom because we don't have enough room in the hall closet.
*Notice the lack of bedroom closet.
*We have recently acquired an attractive linen closet that has nowhere to live and could hold clothes.
Whoever helps me solve this space will receive no prize but will be considered a minor saint in the household.
